Sen. Short: Initiatives are people’s safety valve

This year's initiatives reflect people's frustration with Olympia

In this video update, Sen. Shelly Short discusses the latest initiatives to be certified for consideration by the 2024 Legislature, a reflection of public frustration with Olympia. Of six presented to the Legislature, three have survived signature checks by state elections officials. These measures are Initiative 2117, repealing the cap-and-trade law that has driven up the price of gasoline and diesel fuel; Initiative 2113, restoring police pursuits; and Initiative 2081, establishing parental rights in K-12 education.
